When Pet Owners Get Cameraphones

We use them to annoy the living shit out of our pets by taking 8 bajillion pictures of them, often about three inches from their little faces:

A few new shots of Chaplin are up at Flickr.

D.C. Photography

Photos from my trip to D.C. last week are finally up on Flickr, divided into two sets, and thus two slideshows for your time-killing and/or general perusal.

My set of wandering around D.C. with Jill, with quite a bit of stuff from my trip to the Air and Space Museum:

Denver In Pictures

5:17 pm family, photos, travel No Comments

I went to Denver for my stepuncle’s stepdaughter’s wedding (my step-step-cousin, I suppose) a couple weekends ago and hauled my camera along with me. I also got to see my cousin Jeff for the first time in about six years, and there’s some pictures of his family in here as well (or at least the members of his family who weren’t off at college or work).

If you can’t see the images below the set’s also available here at Flickr.

Idaho Roadtrip Photos

Photographically, I focused mostly on the drive through Nevada this time, which is through an otherworldly beautiful part of the desert where there is literally nobody around for hundreds of miles. So spectacular and incredibly relaxing.

There’s also some good shots from my hike to Titus Lake with my dad. For two people whose combined age is 100 and who have two good legs between us, we did pretty damn well.

Photos are from my D50, but a bunch of fun ones from the iPhone mixed in. If the slideshow below doesn’t feel like cooperating, the set is here on Flickr.

New York, New Jersey

Some pictures from my travels in New York City and Northern New Jersey, including the first time I’ve ever actually seen the Statue of Liberty in person as I rode the ferry to Sandy Hook. Flickr here, slideshow below (click “notes” for a fuller explanation on some of the items):

Special thanks to Lummis, who lent me a place to crash on Friday night, and to Lisa and Matt for getting married and giving me an excuse to get the fuck out of L.A.

Creative Drought Solutions

Spotted in Encino yesterday:

It does look a bit browner in this picture than it does in person – the other non-painted lawns in the neighborhood were looking pretty darn sickly.

In The Continuing Vein of Literalism

I thought for a bit about what the hell I was going to do with the gigantic goddamn lemon, and finally, I figured I might as well just keep going with the literal theme of the day:

Yep, I made lemonade. An absolutely ridiculous amount of lemonade from one lemon, in fact. Normally to make this amount of lemonade you’d need about seven or eight normal sized lemons.

It’s actually pretty tasty, though we’ll see how well it holds up after spending some time in the fridge.

When Life Gives You Gigantic Goddamn Lemons

This monstrosity has been hanging from the lemon tree in my apartment complex for the last few months. Today, just as I was heading past it to go to the gym, it fell off the tree, right next to me.

Given everything that’s been going on lately, I had to laugh. Life has now taken to literally giving me lemons. Guess it’s time to break out the sugar and make some lemonade.

Pride 2009

7:01 pm photos, queerliness No Comments

Took me about a week, but I got my metric tonne of pictures from the Gay Pride Parade last weekend up on Flickr. The slideshow (make sure you mouseover the “notes” thing to see my notes):

The sun wasn’t out for about the first 2/3 of the parade, so some of the pictures are sadly flat, but overall I’m happy with how these turned out. Everything was taken with my 70-300mm lens, so I couldn’t get some wider shots, but some of the detail I got instead made it worth it.
