Thought

I noticed today that when I was checking a post, the counter was at 7666. Does this mean I'm officially in the seventh circle of hell?

Aaaaaargh!

I got back from work today at about 8:15ish, and saw I had three messages. I never have three messages.

I figured either something important had happened and for some reason nobody thought to call my cell phone, or one was from a telemarketer and the others were from my folks, who usually just want me to call them when I get home.

All three messages were from telemarketers.

Do-Not-Call List, here I come...

Meh

A brief update:

- Work is good. Memorizing a shitload of ingredients daily bites the big one. I've been doing shadow shifts a week earlier than I thought I was going to be able to, which is a double-edged sword because I'm really exhausted.

- All my various injuries are making progress, but not healed. I'm still going to the doctor on a daily basis, although hopefully not for more than another 5 days.

- I saw the Matrix Reloaded tonight...and was really disappointed. I won't post a full rant on it since I'm about to pass out, but suffice it to say I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

And just for shits and giggles, if you live in the Atlanta area, please, beware of a new disease that seems to be spreading.

Work!

I had my little orientation at CPK today, two weeks late due to the wonderous timing of my acute appendicitis. I have discovered two things about this job:

1. I am going to have to work very hard not to put back on all the weight I've lost in the last six months (mostly via the Atkins diet, but the appendicitis diet also factors in), because the food is really goddamn good but also really goddamn bad for you, and I get a big fat discount.

2. I have to get my brain back in shape, because I have to memorize every ingredient of 90+ menu items plus all sorts of ridiculously specific things I have to say to the customer, and the specific order I am required to say them in.

Otherwise, this looks like it could be a cool job. I'm still not sure I'm cut out to be a waitress, but the people I'm gonna be working with seem pretty cool, and that's really about 90% of the battle right there.

Customers come and go, but the people you work with pretty much define your work. And I have a good feeling about this. And if it doesn't work out, I can always say "fuck my convictions" and move to Los Angeles to be an entertainment industry lackey.
