The Psychadelic Goat
So who is this
little guy? He’s the Psychadelic Goat, the mascot of
my record label since long before it ever actually
existed.
I came up with the idea for Psychadelic Goat Records shortly after I started to write. I really don't remember how I came up with the name, but I do remember thinking, hey, that sounds really cool.
I think I was about fourteen when I came up with the idea (hence the misspelling of Psychedelic, which I have kept for sentimental reasons), and it finally became reality in 1999 with the release of my first album, Bridge Over Bottled Water.
The funding for the label was pretty much My Life Savings, with a little (okay, a lot) of help from my very generous family. Psychadelic Goat is currently not releasing other artists, and I currently have no plans to change that policy. The good news is that it’s now significantly easier to launch and promote your own record label now than it was when I tried to in 1999.
The logo, which has gotten better over the years as my drawing has slightly improved (though clearly not very much), is almost exactly what I had envisioned when I came up with the idea for the name. I hope to someday find a suitable picture of a goat and photoshop joe cool sunglasses and a tie-dye swirl onto it, but so far the ability to do that has eluded me.
